AMC’s Breaking Bad prequel/spinoff series Better Call Saul has done an admirable job through two seasons of standing on its own merits without relying too heavily on what’s come before. Though there are some obvious connections, viewers have become engrossed in the trials and tribulations of James McGill and are curious to see where the character goes for the upcoming third season. Still, some can’t help but wonder when some familiar faces (beyond Jimmy and Mike Ehrmantraut) will make an appearance on Better Call Saul....

Black Panther continues its rise up the all-time charts, passing the domestic totals of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Dark Knight over the weekend. By now, much has been said about the film’s box office success, which surpassed even the rosiest expectations when it premiered about a month ago. Black Panther’s shattering of the February opening weekend record was just the start of an impressive run that saw it rewrite the history books, setting numerous new marks as it took advantage of word-of-mouth and minimal competition....

All good things must come to an end, and Starz seems more than ready to give their pirate drama, Black Sails, a magnificent send off. Fans have been given three seasons with each progressively better than the one before it as we followed the Urca de Lima gold. Starz broke the mold with Black Sails by skipping the kitsch and giving viewers a well written, violent slice of what early Caribbean colonization looked like....

Apple said yesterday that its legal battle with the FBI has such far-reaching consequences that it should be settled by Congress rather than by the courts – but if that tack is unsuccessful, Bloomberg reports that the company will be putting forward a rather unusual argument in court. Apple will argue that the digital signature it uses to validate code is protected by the First Amendment as free speech, which cannot be compelled in law....

When it comes to the relative intelligence of characters in animated series, the bar can be pretty low. Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin aren’t going to be winning the Nobel Prize in Physics any time soon. Homer did beat a group of grade school kids a designing the nuclear power plant of the future, though. But on Bob’s Burgers, the relative intelligence of the characters seems higher than other series. The key word in that sentence is seems, in part because many of the characters are so ridiculous that its hard to tell how smart they actually are....

If someone is late to pick up their kid from school, it’s a big little deal. Big Little Lies centers around the goings-on of ritzy public school Otter Bay Elementary, where lines are drawn in the sand so much, the sandbox looks more like train tracks. Stay-at-home moms vs. career moms; households that earn over $150K/year vs. under. Admittedly, this suburban pettiness is much easier to take with a view of the ocean....

Biomutant is an adventure-driven open-world game released by Experiment 101 in late May. Initially announced in 2017, the game has seen countless delays, so many fans are finally excited to explore the game. The main character of the game is a mutated animal. As you explore the world to make progress, you learn more about your backstory. Björn Runge is a Swedish director and author. In his newest film The Wife he teams up with acting stars Glenn Close, Jonathan Pryce, and Christian Slater. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Meg Wolitzer, with a screenplay written by Jane Anderson. It tells the story of Joan Castleman (Glenn Close) reflecting on her life during a trip to Stockholm. Her husband (Jonathan Pryce) is going to receive a Nobel Prize in Literature and the couple is travelling to Stockholm for the presentation....

Following Spotify’s acquisition of The Joe Rogan Experience earlier this week, a new report from Bloomberg today details Apple’s own plans to ramp up its focus on podcasts. The report explains that part of Apple’s goal is to help promote its Apple TV+ service. The report explains that Apple has begun acquiring two types of original podcasts. The first category is audio spinoffs of its TV+ movies and shows, while the second is “original programs that could eventually be adapted into future TV+ video content....

Bill & Ted 3 remains a very distinct possibility, and fans will hopefully soon hear “news that will stick.” The update comes from original Bill & Ted stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, and screenwriters Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon. The first ads for Showtime’s Black Monday didn’t exactly obfuscate what sort show its creators intended it to be. A half-hour dark comedy about greed and power and excess is not necessarily something new or particularly original in today’s television landscape, so the series smartly gave itself a couple of advantages. One of those advantages comes in form of Don Cheadle, who makes his return to television after spending the past few years playing with Tony Stark and the Avengers, and not too long after his previous Showtime series, House of Lies, ended in 2016....

Last night, Apple released a statement warning investors that it would miss its quarterly revenue guidance, making it the second revenue warning in only two years. Apple said that business outside of China was strong, but production bottlenecks would affect worldwide supply and domestic Chinese demand was also down. Bloomberg says that Apple has been readying the lower-cost ‘iPhone SE 2’, which will resemble an iPhone 8 with an A13 chip inside, despite coronavirus disruption to factories....

EON Productions is currently seeking actors to play the female lead and primary villain in the highly-anticipated Bond 25. This news comes just a day after rumors circulated that Idris Elba is being considered to play 007 after Daniel Craig’s final turn as the British super-spy in Bond 25, although Elba has since shot down those rumors. Before producers can even consider Craig’s replacement, they must first contend with rounding out the cast in Bond 25....

It’s a wonder the women of Big Little Lies have such an array of gorgeous designer clothes. There must be no room in their closets with all the skeletons inside them. Yes, while it seems that everyone in Monterey, California has a secret or twelve, it’s no secret that Big Little Lies is a sinfully addictive hit. It was initially meant to be a miniseries, but it turns out that viewers can’t get enough suburban scandal....

Bill and Ted want to play the halftime show at next year’s Super Bowl, an event scheduled six months after the release of Bill and Ted Face the Music. Presumably, that means stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter would perform in-character as the goofy duo in front of a sold-out crowd of thousands. Of course, the whole thing could merely be a smart marketing move to get people talking (and writing) about the upcoming sequel....

Oscar-nominee and all around life of the party Bill Murray is set to star in Oscar-winning director Sofia Coppola’s upcoming film On the Rocks. The pair found success together back in 2003 with Lost In Translation, only to not work together again until 2015’s Netflix holiday special A Very Murray Christmas. While that effort earned mixed reviews from fans and critics alike, many Coppola and Murray devotees were left wanting much more....

Succession might have a case but no TV show touches on the topic of finance better than Showtime’s Billions. The show revolves the billionaire hedge-fund manager Bobby “Axe” Axelrod (Damian Lewis) and his love-hate relationship with US attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) who is trying to take him down for financial malpractice. Billions is partially based on the real-life battle between former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara and billionaire Steve Cohen who was once found guilty of insider trading....
