When Black Panther made his debut in Captain America: Civil War, it did not come in an action scene or any other possible place where he would have his costume on. Instead, audiences were first introduced to T’Challa, then the prince of Wakanda, played by Chadwick Boseman. The actor’s accent, presence, and fighting style all were factors in making him one of the standouts of Civil War and left audiences wanting to see more, and they are in luck.
Black Panther will mark the start of a new hopeful franchise with the first installment directed by Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station, Creed). Coogler and Boseman have been surrounded by a multitude of talented individuals that will be both behind and in front of the camera. Earlier today the first set photos were revealed that signified the start of production, but those photos did not show anybody in costume. Thankfully, that has now changed with Boseman sporting some of T’Challa’s regal apparel.
Photographer Atlanta Filming on Twitter released a photo that features Boseman dressed as T’Challa walking out of an unknown building. If Boseman is in costume, we could very well get more photos in the near future of his co-stars in costume as well.

While seeing Boseman in his T’Challa costumes is not as exciting as him in a superhero suit, there are some interesting things to take away from this photo when compared to those previously released. If you compare both sets of images, it is clear that Boseman and his fellow actors are walking out of the same building. With Boseman present in both sets of photos, it is reasonable to believe that Martin Freeman, Lupita Nyong’o, and Danai Gurira (all of whom were featured in earlier photos from this location) took part in the same scene that Boseman had been filming prior to this photo.
Ultimately, this could signify that the Joint Counter Terrorist Centre and Freeman’s Everett K. Ross will have a sit down with Wakanda’s newest king and his royal guard, the Dora Milaje. The purposes of this hypothetical meeting can not be gathered from these sets of photos [Update: the photographer says the production listing states this was a United Nations meeting], but does go to show that more of the world will be explored than just Wakanda - although the fictional country should be the most prominent. If this photo is part of a larger collection, the photographer could soon release the first looks at Nyong’o and Gurira as Dora Milaje members Nakia and Okoye.
Audiences have already seen one member of the group in Civil War when Ayo (Florence Kasumba) confronts Black Widow, so the sleek, all black attire could be the traditional outfit for the group moving forward. This matches the look that T’Challa has in these photos, but their costumes could be altered for combat purposes as well. Hopefully those photos are only a few days away from making their way online, so stay tuned to Screen Rant for further updates.
