Beverly Hills, 90210 is one of those teen series that is well-known for its campy, corny vibe and also its real talk about serious things. The main characters experience a lot over the ten seasons of the show, from typical heartbreak and dating woes to much more disturbing stuff such as Donna’s abusive relationship with Ray.
The group of friends are all good people, but even the best characters do really bad things sometimes, whether they have good intentions or they’re making a huge mistake. Here are the worst things that each of the 10 main characters on Beverly Hills, 90210 have done.
Andrea Zuckerman: Lies About Her Address
Andrea Zuckerman (Gabrielle Carteris ) has arguably the biggest heart of the group of main characters on Beverly Hills, 90210, so it’s easy to understand why, in the first season, fans learn that she has been lying about her address. Why? So she can attend West Beverly High, which is a great school and which will allow her to make her college and career dreams happen.
Andrea isn’t as rich as the rest of the gang (in fact, it seems like she comes from a pretty poor background), so she tells this little white lie. It’s not the best thing to do, since she could get into a lot of trouble, but it does make sense.
Steve Sanders: He Cheats On His Girlfriend In Season 5
Steve Sanders (Ian Ziering) is a prime example of how wealth doesn’t make up for the lack of love at home. Despite being given all the luxurious things he could want, he just wants his adopted mom, famous actress Samantha Sanders, to care about him.
Steve moves between maturity and immaturity, but the worst thing he has ever done is in the fifth season when he sleeps with someone while dating his girlfriend, Celeste (Jennifer Grant). This is not only a terrible thing to do but it’s part of his gross frat boy storyline this season. It’s not Steve’s finest moment and he seems to be backsliding to the jerk he was when fans meet him in the first season.
David Silver: Dumps Donna When She Wants To Wait To Sleep With Him
David Silver (Brian Austin Green) starts off his time on Beverly Hills, 90210 as a cute, sweet kid who wishes he could fit in with his rich classmates. He and Donna Martin (Tori Spelling) start a serious relationship but the main focus is about how she’s saving herself.
What’s the worst thing that David has ever done? When he actually ends his and Donna’s relationship because she doesn’t want to sleep with him yet in the season four episode “Somewhere In The World It’s Christmas.” It’s such a cruel thing to do and it doesn’t make a ton of sense since this is important to her and it’s something that David knew about.
Valerie Malone: Pretends To Be A Nice Girl And Lies To Everyone
When it comes to the worst thing that Valerie Malone (Tiffani Thiessen) has ever done, it’s moving to Beverly Hills and lying to absolutely everyone about pretty much everything. She acts as if she’s a nice girl who deserves everyone’s pity and empathy when she wants to get her way, no matter what.
The list of bad things Valerie has done is honestly long. She wants to date both Ray Pruit (Jamie Walters) and Dylan McKay (Luke Perry) even though it’s clear that they’re off-limits. She also acts like she’s so innocent and Dylan is the one who tried to seduce her. She’s always up to no good at all and isn’t really a favorite character.
Emily Valentine: Gives Brandon Drugs Without His Knowing
Emily Valentine (Christine Elise) is a troubled, difficult character, and yet sweet Brandon Walsh (Jason Priestley) is taken by her.
In the season two episode “U4EA,” Emily puts this drug in a drink that she then gives to Brandon, and this is definitely the worst thing that she’s ever done. It’s so dangerous and it’s no wonder that he dumps her after that.
Donna Martin: Dates Two Guys In Season 5
Donna is as much of a sweetheart as Andrea, so when it comes to something bad that she’s done, it’s mostly because she’s too innocent to really know how to handle the situation.
In the fifth season, Donna dates two guys at the same time: Ray and Griffin Stone (Casper Van Dien). This is a tricky situation and it only gets worse when Donna chooses to start a serious relationship with Ray, who ends up being abusive. It’s really tough to watch this plotline.
Dylan McKay: Getting Involved With Super Sketchy People
Dylan McKay (the late Luke Perry) is the “bad boy” of Beverly Hills, 90210 and people couldn’t possibly love him more. While it’s not great that he and Kelly start dating when he’s already in a relationship with Brenda, and he’s kind of a jerk to both of them since he should never have started that love triangle, the worst thing that he’s ever done isn’t about his love life.
Dylan gets involved with a lot of sketchy, scary people, starting in season four when he starts helping out Suzanne Steele who says that his dad, Jack, is her daughter’s father, too. He gives her money but she’s lying to him. Dylan also goes after a Mobster and marries his daughter, Toni (Rebecca Gayheart). Dylan makes a series of bad decisions, also getting involved with drugs and alcohol throughout the course of the show. Fans feel for him as he’s always had trouble feeling loved.
Kelly Taylor: Betrays Her BFF Brenda By Dating Dylan
Kelly Taylor’s (Jennie Garth) betrayal of her supposed best friend, Brenda Walsh (Shannen Doherty), is still a big deal to this day as everyone remembers the Kelly/Dylan/Brenda love triangle.
Even though Kelly knows that Brenda is totally in love with Dylan, she can’t help but want to be with him, and thinks that Brenda being away in Paris is the perfect opportunity for this. It’s tough for a friendship to keep going after this kind of action.
Brenda Walsh: Insults Emily Valentine In Front Of Everyone
In the season two episode “Wildfire,” Brenda does a really bad thing: she labels Emily Valentine a “slut.” Why? Because she went on a date with Dylan, making Brenda super envious.
Brenda isn’t actually that mean, so she immediately understands that she did something wrong and that she should never have said that.
Brandon Walsh: Starts Gambling In Season Three
Gambling is probably the last thing that fans would have expected Brandon Walsh to get involved in, but that’s exactly what happens in the third season of the show. He meets Duke Weatherill, who is a bookie that Nat from The Peach Pit knows, and he soon becomes completely obsessed.
Thankfully, Brandon is able to stop and nothing too horrible happens to this beloved character.
